Back in San Francisco, while tattooing, catching up with friends, and reducing my life to the size of a minibus via digitization, sidewalk sale and massive bonfire, I filled all my extra hours doing set building and art direction for Maggots and Men, a black-and-white Super8 feature-length film subverting a piece of history from the Russian Revolution and involving genderbent anarchist sailors. I came in to the project last fall, doing my best to fill the big shoes vacated by the former art director Flo McGarrell, Master Materials Scrounger. It's been a big learning experience about working on a group project and I met great people putting in ridiculous hours, for free, just because. This is one of the reasons I love my queerdo community.
I'm putting some photos up here from last fall's sets (Lenin's office, City Skyline/Strike Scene) and from this month (Science Lab, Factory).
